With a new round of curriculum reform of basic education, various version of Language Elective high school textbooks gradually put into practice in many senior school to be tested by teachers and students which can bring a lot of feedback about textbooks. Taking Language Elective high school textbooks published by People's Education Press as the object of study and in addition to the basic understanding of the material circumstances, this thesis mainly makes research on preparation and use of teaching material. Trough the study of the thesis, the author hopes that reflection of the elective textbooks'content can help Chinese teachers to renovate their ideas and thought for teaching material, and then to put Chinese teachers to move forward the professional orientation. This thesis also makes a survey on teaching material on the basis of the relevant teaching material theories to provide some new and practical advices to textbook editors.During the research, the paper, mainly analyzed fifteen Language Elective high school textbooks published by People's Education Press, micro-discusses five series of the teaching material "poems and prose" "fiction and drama" "news and biography" "apply of language" and "study of cultural works" from system of elected text, knowledge, homework and assistant reading according to elements of teaching material with the support of relevant material theories. On the use of teaching material, the author makes field research on some schools to learn the usage of the elective material and to put in order the most apparent problems in material, and then offers proposal to them.The body of thesis includes three parts:The first part is a summary of Language Elective high school textbooks published by People's Education Press which introduces the history and current situation of teaching material and makes a conclusion that the edit of elective material has a short history, lack of experience and weak basic. It's an urgent problem to solve by knowledgeable people. The author also makes detailed explanation to Senior High School Language Curriculum Standards (Experimental) to reach purpose that the edit of newly elective material should be people oriented, be close to life, and focus on integration and activities.The second part is divided into five sections to analyze the text of elective material published by People's Education Press. The first four sections are the research of elective texts system, the study of knowledge system, the study of homework system and the study of assistant reading system respectively. Each system studies in "poems and prose" "fiction and drama" "news and biography" "apply of language" and "study of cultural works" to prove the characteristics of this elective material and makes an integrated judgment that this material reflects how to improve language literacy under the premise of multi-choice. The content of material covers ancient and modern society, provides extensive cultural horizon, reflects dominant position of students and focuses on students' independent study. However, it also causes many problems, such as various in number but single in structure; humanized in whole; too academic and specialized and so on. Therefore, it proposes to organize an edit term which includes professors from department of Chinese, experts from Education Institution and front-line teachers.The third part studies the use of Language Elective high school textbooks published by People's Education Press. After the research, the author finds out that this material has the following problems, such as teachers to teach elective classes passively, students to learn compulsory, obsolete teaching style, single assessment system and so on. This paper also proposes suggestions on the level of teaching which include to handle cohesion between elective and compulsory teaching material correctly, to update teaching methods and to build up various assessment ways. In this part, the paper doesn't avoid mentioning the sensitive topic of this curriculum reform-college entrance examination but mainly discusses how college entrance examination leads the use of elective material after studying the College Entrance Examination Description and test in the regions of curriculum reform. And then it hopes to realize the smooth joint of High school language elective and College Entrance Examination and to reform examination (includes proposition guiding, examination content, structure, testing items and so on) to enhance the effective use of Language Elective high school textbooks in front-line teaching.In conclusion, by studying the elective material published by People's Education Press from static text and dynamic use, the paper looks forward to attract attention of knowledgeable people from the field of education and work together to perfect Language Elective high school textbooks.
