Excellent novels, has a rich ideological content, unique artistic perspective and richcultural heritage and plays an important role in improving Chinese accomplishment ofstudents. Elective course is divided into five parts by “High school Chinese curriculumstandards” and the novel is an essential part of it. This paper starts from the the mostrepresentative high school Chinese teaching materials:“PEP” and "Su Jiaoedition" of the elective textbooks to compare and analyses novels’ of elective textbooks inthree parts: arrangement structure, text writing, help reading system, and give my peepholeview on how to write the novel part of elective textbooks better.In the course of the study, I first make a brief analysis about the novel part of requiredChinese textbooks for senior school, propose the significance of learning novel part inelective textbooks and make a brief overview about novel part of the five edition Chineseelective textbooks for high school.Then, with the new curriculum standard and expert works as the basis, to make a fineanalysis about novel part of PEP and Su Jiao Chinese elective textbooks for high school. Inthe layout structure, respectively points out the characteristics of their overallarrangement, comparing their differences and similarities comprehensively. In writing ofthe selection, I make comparisons from the extensive, the suitable for the nature of learningand the convergence degree. Among them, the extensive includes number, age, regionand style of the selections; the suitable for nature of study includes text difficulty andwhether the selection can be used as model for high school students to learn novels; andcohesion degree with required textbooks includes what extent can theselections can broaden the students the extent of view, and increase the knowledge ofstudents; this paper compares the two editions’ help reading system in three parts:"Introduction","links" and "practice", and summarizes their characteristics and the needsthat I think still need to be improved.Then, through the questionnaire and interview, I investigate the use of the two edition, find out the questions in the process of using the two editions oftextbooks, and combined with the problems found in last chapter in the textbooks topropose my own view about improving novel part of elective textbooks. In thelayout structure, the unit composition should be improved; in the selections, the extensive,the suitable for the nature of learning and the convergence degree should begood grasped. In the educational system, learning objectives should be cleared andacademic should be reduced etc. I hope these opinions could be helpful on the writing ofnovels part of high school Chinese elective textbook.
