Safety quality, which is formed in the long-term process ofstudying and practicing gradually, refers to the internal quality ofdealing with security problems. That includes safety consciousness,knowledge and ability. This study suggests that safety quality ofcollege student is different from middle school and primary schoolstudent, whose safety consciousness contains self-protection andno-offending-others awareness; safety knowledge contains lawacknowledge and safety common sense; safety ability containsself-saving ability and emergency ability.By using the research method of questionnaires and interviewsand using SPSS17.0statistical software to enter and analyze thedata of questionnaires, the study, whose subjects are ShanxiNormal University students, is about the condition of collegestudents’ safety quality. The results are not optimistic that thesafety quality of college students is at a low level generally. Andthere are some differences in five aspects of gender, grade,different region of urban and rural, family structure type (only-childfamilies and child with siblings families) as well as the educational background of parents.On gender, the safety quality of female is better than male,especially in terms of safety awareness. But there is no obviousdivergence on safety knowledge and ability between female andmale. In terms of grade, the safety quality of freshman is superior toother grades. To a certain extent, the safety quality level isnegatively correlated with grade, especially in terms of safetyawareness. Regard to the different region, rural students’ safetyquality is better than urban students slightly, mainly reflected inno-offending-others awareness. On family structure type, the onlychild and the child with siblings have no obvious difference, as wellas in terms of parents’ educational background.In order to guarantee students’ safety and improve the safetyquality of college students, this paper put forward tocountermeasures and suggestions to enhance the security qualityfrom three aspects, namely the construction of safety courses incolleges and universities, safety management and educationlinkage mechanism etc, which based on the results of investigationand research.
