The learning adaptability of students plays an important part in their learning efficiency and quality. The development of education in minority nationality and border areas is being paid more attention in our country. These students are not suitable for their study and life because of all kinds of reasons. This thesis focuses on students who are mainly minority nationality and in rural area of the border areas. The author used methods such as literature analysis, questionnaire and interview. This research takes the Yunnan Province Meng Lian Dai national minority Lahu national minority Wa national minority Autonomous County two villages and towns middle schools as an example.Firstly,compile the new middle school students learning adaptability questionnaire according to The junior middle school students learning adaptability scale to give investigation and analysis for learning adaptability of these students who are in rural middle school.The results were obtained by questionnaire survey and interview was conducted among293students who are from two rural middle school in Meng Lian.Then analyze the data by using SPSS. The result is that these first year middle school students who are national minority have more difficult to adapt their learning than the Han nationality students. The dates also tell us that male students’ learning adaptability is more poor than female students.The students from single parent family have more difficulty to adapt their studying than these who are from two-parent family. Boys and girls in minority nationality and border district have significant differences in the dimension of Learning strategies.In this paper, author has a deeper understanding of the region several problems of the students in the learning adaptability through qualitative interviews. The study found that the first year middle school students have some problems in their learning quality. They are lack of effective learning strategies and good interpersonal relationship. At the same time, most of them can’t adapt to the teacher’s teaching methods. Next, make comprehensive and scientific understanding and analysis in students’ learning behavior then give more targeted learning behavior management countermeasures of education and teaching. At the same time to take some actions to help the first grade students of junior middle school adapt to their studying and life quickly and improve the quality of education and teaching in minority nationality and rural area of the border areas.
