“What is it” and “what should be” have been two important questions in academic research. As to the class management of primary head-teachers, the academic research mainly focuses on how to manage classes; however, there has been little research in the actual state in head-teacher’s class management. This thesis is intended to use the method of narrative study to understand the real state of head-teachers’ mind by applying the three questions: “what ideas do head-teachers possess”、”what characteristics do these ideas have” and “why this characteristic exists”. I utilize YX School as an investigation spot to collect stories about head-teachers with others like students, parents, other teachers and school leaders by applying methods of participant observation, interview and literature. From the research, the primary head-teachers’ ideas is conflicting in specific class management activities. The reason is that head-teachers are playing multiple roles like educators, administrators, common person, colleagues and employees. In specific class management activities, head-teachers may play more than two different roles in the same time, some of which may be contrary to each other. Thus, it may put head-teachers in a dilemma in class management. The thesis found out contradictory features in ideas in head-teachers as different roles: educator and administrator, administrator and common person, administrator and colleague, administrator and employee. |
