With the development of information technology, the courseware authoring software emerges in an endless stream, but the related studies have shown that the teachers have difficulty in the selection, installation and operation of software and may face impersonal software design and the effect of teaching courseware is not so good. For the majority of the primary school teachers who have limited energy and information technology capability, there exists lots of difficulties and challenges in designing high quality interactive multimedia courseware that conforms to the cognitive level of the pupils. To deal with the problems above, the author analyzes the applicability and feasibility of courseware authoring software at home and abroad, choosing Articulate for the study of primary school teaching. Articulate, one of the most popular multimedia courseware authoring software with high quality and strong interactivity, is quick, efficient, powerful and has strong integration and interactivity for courseware. Therefore, this paper will study the application of Articulate in the primary school teaching, and explore the application effect of Articulate in depth. It aims at solving the problem whether Articulate can be used in primary school teaching, comparing the advantage and value of practical application with other courseware softwares(PPT、Flash,etc).This paper’s framework is as follows: chapter 1 and chapter 2 mainly expound the research background, research purpose, research content, research methods and problems exist in courseware authoring software and the primary multimedia teaching at home, choose the relevant theoretical basis and introduce the characteristics, advantages and scope of application of Articulate in detail, paving the way for the subsequent research and practice; Chapter 3 and chapter 4 summarize the whole implementing process of application research and I select two classes of the fifth grade in the primary school N as the practice object. Regarding the mathematics in the primary school as the breakthrough point, I design and develop Articulate courseware of ’ expressing numbers with letters’ and apply it in the practical teaching through the questionnaire that Articulate courseware applied before and after the class and the data analysis of teachers’ interviews; The last chapter summarizes the research, putting forward the innovation and deficiency of this research and introspecting. This study demonstrates that Articulate has practical application value in the primary school teaching, and I hope that Articulate will be welcomed in the primary school teaching and can be applied in other disciplines.
