As an important part of classroom teaching, lead-in plays a connecting role. From perspective of teaching environment, the role of lead-in is mainly to help students move from the outer space to the internal space, and it means from outside to inside. From the perspective of teaching content, the role of lead-in is mainly to build a bridge between the old knowledge that exists in students’ mind and the new knowledge. From the perspective of students’ attention, the purpose of lead-in is to arouse students’ conscious attention and weaken the inadvertent-notice. From the perspective of students’ interest, the role of lead-in is to stimulate students’ interest to learn English, then cause their internal motivation. And from the perspective of the relations between teachers and students, it is used to release the tension of them. Although teachers can realize the importance of lead-in, there are still some problems such as time control unsuitable, method selection inappropriate, students’ development not be fully reflected and others, which exists because of the traditional teaching ideas. These existing problems are the original source of the author carried out this study.Based on humanistic and constructivism learning theories, the author used literature, observation, interview and case study. This study is to discover grade4-6 English class lead-in problems in primary schools, analyze the reasons, then find countermeasures by lots of literature reading, English class lead-in observation table forming, teachers and students interview and two typical cases study.This study is divided into six sections. The first part elaborated on the origin of the question, the theoretical and the practical significance of the research, the summary of the related research results from domestic and overseas, the theoretical basis and the concept definition of class lead-in based on the definitions introduced by other academicians. The second part is the research method. The third part is the result and the analysis of observation, interview and typical case study, which is on grade4-6 English class lead-in in primary school. The fourth part is finding the problems and analyzing the reasons which is based on observations, interviews and case studies. The fifth part is proposing appropriate improved countermeasures of lead-in according to the problems and the reasons of grade 4-6 English class lead-in in primary school. The sixth part is the conclusion.
