In twenty-first century, the idea of multicultural education has brought a new perspective for the reform of basic curriculum education. The history textbook as a crucial carrier of the history curriculum content, the research of it has been increasingly welcome, similarly, under the perspective of multicultural, the research about the type of culture in the textbook is becoming a new field. The research on the content of history textbook, not only can help teachers know the culture content better than before, but also offer referential teaching suggestions for cultural content.The research object of this paper is 2007 PEP compulsory high school history textbook, take multicultural education as the research theory, the researcher classify the culture of the high school history textbooks into certain types:common culture, national culture, culture of different ethnic groups, sexual culture, culture of peer group, culture of special group. Different cultures represent different meanings, and reflect different contents. The research found that the reality of distribution of cultural contents in the high school history textbook:they are differences in the distribution of national cultural, the culture of ordinary class is relatively less than other culture, there are differences between the expression of female culture and the culture of male, lack of the special culture, and that with the choice of basis knowledge in history textbooks, namely the selection of the mainstream culture in history textbooks and the role of state intervention in knowledge access; the history curriculum standard of ordinary high school(experiment) limited the selection of textbook content. Selection of culture contents in the history textbooks must be in accordance with the history curriculum standard of high school; the limitations of traditional and the experience in compiling of history textbook; the traditional conception of history are closely linked to the history textbook content selection etc. In the light of present situation about culture, specific constraints for 2007PEP history textbook. The researcher give some suggestions, in the leader of history teaching, the teacher should construct and cultivate the awareness of culture actively. The reasonable processing of the relationship between the national curriculum and the local curriculum in terms of cultural content, and be able to integrate various curriculum resources, improve the efficiency of resources utilization, improve and cultivate students’awareness of multicultural. In the subject of history teaching, students should integrate their own cultural background and the cultural connotation, to reasonable appreciate and understand of other cultural content; in the activities of history teaching, take the conception of education for international understanding, constructing students’vision of international, for help them form a correct view of culture, combined with the characteristics of students and the characteristics of the region, to make the culture of peer group and the special group cognition more effective by behavior of perception.
