Recently, with the reform of fundamental educational curriculum in our country constantly advancing and further developing, the request to improve the quality of education is gradually transformed from the outside of the school to its inside.Teachers are the most important power to change the quality of education. Teachers’ theoretical study, scientific literacy and professional development are put forward new requirements. Under the background, the appearance of the school-based teaching research brings a good opportunity for the schools and teachers’ professional development. Teachers’ personal self-reflection, their collective peer coaching and professional researchers’ expert coaching are the three forms of school-based teaching research. Among them, teachers’ peer coaching is considered as the leading form and effective means to advance teachers’ professional development. At present, however,the researches on teachers’ peer coaching in school-based teaching research are few,what’s worse, the researches which are put into practice are even less.Based on above considerations, the research comprehends the present situation and the existing problems of teachers’ peer coaching in school-based teaching research by taking questionnaire surveys and interviews 60 teachers in three rural schools. The questionnaire is created from the five dimensions: rural teachers’ attitude toward peer coaching, the rural teachers’ organizational form of peer coaching, the content of peer coaching, the effect of rural teachers’ peer coaching, the guarantee conditions of rural teachers’ peer coaching. Based on the questionnaire, in order to comprehend the current situation in rural school, the author interviews and observes five teachers to learn more about the current situation. The five teachers contain of a young teacher, a old teacher and two partner teachers who are good in teachers’ peer coaching.Through the analysis of the questionnaire and the interview data, there are five main problems of the teachers’ peer coaching in rural school: the demand of novice teachers in rural school has not been met, single form and lack of content in rural teachers’ peer coaching, teachers’ personal self-reflection and professional researchers’ expert coaching don’t match up the teachers’ peer coaching, teachers’ peer coaching can not get the corresponding guarantee. Moreover, some methods and advice for solving these problems: to improve the rural teachers’ initiative and enthusiasm of the peer coaching, to pay more attention to the diversification of form and content of teachers’ peer coaching, to improve the effect of rural teachers’ peer coaching, to create a reasonable safeguard mechanism for teachers’ peer coaching etc.
