The further development of reform on the way of junior middle school English teaching in our country are put forward new requirements and challenges. To be a new informationization teaching way, digital story telling has the characteristics of digital and multiple media, was extensive research by experts in China and abroad. The arrival of information age, technology gives the ancient "story" the modern media technology, formed a "digital story" with age characteristics. Digital story is use of modern information technology to the traditional story become visual, auditory, and make the story more image, vivid and intuitive.This research adopts literature research to carding the concepts that put forward by domestic and foreign experts, and combined with the author’s point of view to redefine the digital storytelling and task-based teaching, then analysis the development present situation of digital storytelling and task-based teaching all over the world. Introduced the fit point of the basic theory about digital storytelling and the digital storytelling in task-based teaching. According to the characteristics and advantages of the digital storytelling, this paper attempts to combined digital story telling with task-based English teaching in junior middle school, make the digital story telling as a task to learning the course content.This study used questionnaire method to analysis the teaching hardware and the students’ information technology level, and test and verify the feasibility of carried out digital storytelling teaching activities in Grade Two. According to the characteristics of the junior middle school English curriculum and the new lesson mark requirements, the author has carried on the teaching design about the application of digital story telling in English teaching of junior middle school and do practice research in Qing Hua experimental school, Qingyang city, Gansu Province.After experiment to test and verify the effective of the digital story telling applied in English teaching of junior middle school. This study was did the questionnaire and interview with 40 students and 1 teacher. The practical results indicate that Digital story telling certainly has a promoting effect in English teaching of junior middle school. The results basically reached the goal of respected.Finally, summarize the research process and teaching practice, and put forward the inadequacy of this research as well as the needed content and direction in follow-up research about this research field.
