The increasingly deepening of curriculum reform has raised newdemands on English teaching in primary schools of China. It has become a major task forprimary school English teachers to inspire students’ interest in English learning and todevelop their ability to use the English language. Meanwhile, with the development ofChina’s economy and advancement of science and technology, the prices of digitalproducts have become lower, which brings great convenience to people’s work and study.At the same time, digital storytelling as a teaching method, has been intensivelyresearched and extensively applied in America and other European countries. Thisresearch, based on the Task-based Learning theory, aims to integrate digital storytellinginto English teaching in primary school, with a view to discovering its merits anddemerits.This thesis first defines and expounds Task-based Learning theory and digitalstorytelling by means of literature research. Then, the author develops two samplelessons and puts them into practice. After the experimental classes are completed,interview and questionnaire survey are used to obtain students’ and teachers’ feedbackon the experimental lessons using digital storytelling.From the feedback, it is concluded that learning English with digital stories iswelcomed by the students, and supported by the school leaders and teachers. Theintegration of primary school English teaching and digital storytelling is conducive tosparking students’ interest in English learning, holding their enthusiasm and improvingtheir capability of English listening, oral communication and writing. Meanwhile, it isinstrumental in enhancing students’ comprehension, information processing andstimulating their creativity. However, problems are also found. According to theexperimental teaching, the author presents some suggestions at the end of this thesis.
