Procrastination is common in everyday life, which refers to put off the start and ending of atask unreasonably. Academic procrastination means the learners are aware that they should andalso be willing to fulfill the learning task in the expected time, but the fact is not. Or the learnersput off the fulfillment of the task unnecessarily even if they have to accomplish it sooner or later.As a result, procrastination probably affects the learners emotion. Since the1980’s, thepsychologists in the West have been studying the subject and acquired fruitful achievements. Theresearchers at home and abroad think that, on one hand, procrastination cause the students not tofinish the task within the required or stipulated time, which is likely to affect the learningprocedure and the learning results greatly (Clark&Hill,1994, Harriot&Ferrari,1996);on theother hand, unnecessary procrastination can lead to some negative emotion, such as high level ofanxiety, depression and low esteem (Lay&Schouwenburg,1993); Therefore studyingprocrastination is of great significance in the present education reform. Especially the senior highstudents who are facing the entrance examination should prevent and stay away from thebehavior that probably affects their learning and health and mind.The study, based on the study of the literature about academic procrastination home andabroad, mainly takes the senior high students as the object of the research and adopts the methodof questionnaire, analysis of variance, correlation analysis, and regression analysis and so on. Itdiscusses academic procrastination in the senior students, combing the relative concepts, theoriesand research development in academic procrastination, perfectionism and time managementdisposition. Meanwhile, it discusses the deeper relationship among time management disposition,perfectionism and academic procrastination. In addition, the study put forwards the practicalmeasures to decrease academic procrastination by way of improving the sense of timemonitoring and self-efficacy of time.The conclusion of the study includes the following aspects:The study is based on the survey of about348senior high students with the method ofquestionnaire, and it makes use of analysis of variance, regression analysis and the mediatingeffect of subordinates. The main results are as follows:1. The present study finds out that academic procrastination in senior high students is stillserious, which calls for great attention. Factor scores of academic procrastination were ranked as negative learning attitude, lack of learning plan, low academic self-efficacy and the delay oflearning. Lack of decisive action in learning show differences on population statisticsvariables—sex; negative learning attitude, lack of decisive action in learning as well as lowacademic self-efficacy show differences on grades.2. Perfectionism in senior high students is at a high level. Among the dimensions, care aboutmistakes of the senior high students averages the lowest and the organized level averages thehighest. The parents’ expectation and the organized level show differences on populationstatistics variables-sex and the parents’ expectation show differences on grades.3. Time management disposition of senior high students is in good condition. Scores of timemonitoring, the sense of time value and time efficacy of time management disposition showvery obvious differences in sex; time efficacy is different from grade to grade.4. The final score of time management disposition and its factors have negative correlationwith the final score and the factors of academic procrastination; there is a positive correlationbetween perfectionism and the final score of academic procrastination as well as its factors; thefinal score and its factors of time management disposition have obvious negative correlationwith perfectionism.5.Time monitoring and time efficacy has significant prediction about academicprocrastination.6. The degree of caring about errors in perfectionism and the degree of organization play a partialmediation part in the time management disposition’s influence on academic procrastination.
