With the further development of school physical education reform andpromulgation of relative education policies in China, the teaching method based oncases has been popularized and applied in teaching field. The Case Method, whichmeets the requirement of “educating students through practice” in colleges anduniversities, will definitely become a hotspot for trial in the teaching reform ofvarious professional disciplines.As a compulsory course for students in physical education major in colleges,basketball class requires students to master not only basic theories as well astechnique and tactics, but also certain referee skills. The high popularity degree ofbasketball requires students in physical education major to take up some referee jobsand their referee levels will influence the basketball development level in their cities.Therefore, how to improve the teaching effects of basketball referee teaching incompulsory course is the key for teachers.This thesis tries to apply Case Method to the basketball referee teaching on thebasis of basketball referee skills analysis, discussing the feasibility of Case Method inbasketball referee teaching in physical education major and conducting aninvestigation on teaching experiment. Meanwhile, this thesis tries to improve theteaching effects effectively in the relatively short teaching periods of basketballreferee teaching through reform of teaching methods and provides a theoreticalreference for the development and cultivation of basketball referee talents fromstudents in physical education major in colleges.This thesis applies multiple methods, such as literature analysis, teachingexperiment, mathematical statistics, etc. Firstly, the discussion is made on theconstruction, selecting and application and organization and implementation of case teaching bank in basketball referee teaching. Secondly, two basketball classes in2011physical education major in physical culture institute of Shandong Normal Universityare randomly selected as the teaching experiment objects and an experiment betweentraditional teaching and case method teaching is conducted in basketball refereeteaching. After the experiment, Excel2007is used to analyze and discuss the relativestatistics, and then the statistic analysis is conducted through the statistical softwareSPSS19.0.The conclusions made through logical analysis are as follows:1.To make an argument on the Case Method in basketball referee teaching inphysical education major in colleges from the aspects of the demands and needs ofour country’s new educational policies, features of basketball referee teaching.2.In the process of Case Method, the teaching contents on basketball refereeshould be organized reasonably aiming at three different stages of students’acquisition of motor skills (primary learning, consolidation and improvement, goodcommand) and the suitable teaching cases should be selected pointedly.3.Case Method can be used to improve the theoretical performances of basketballreferees, especially in the theoretical tests and is beneficial to students’ developmentto become a basketball referee.4.In the relatively short teaching period, Case Method demonstrates a significanteffect in gesture and procedure, area and division of labor as well as moveandlocation selection, and improves the veracity of referees’ penalty of foulsimultaneously.5.Case Method facilitates more students to understand the significance ofcooperation among referees and therefore they can cooperate with their partners in theon-the-spot executive.6.Case Method stimulates students’ learning interests on referee learning andactivates their dynamic adjustment mechanism, improving their learning motivation,learning interests as well as learning attitudes.
