Research On The Enlightenment Of The Development Of Western Entrepreneurial Niversity On The Application-oriented University Strategic Transformation In China

From the end of the nineteenth Century to the early twentieth Century,western universities experienced two academic revolution, which resulted in the transformation from teaching-oriented university to research university and the transformation from research university to entrepreneurial university. The entrepreneurial universities are innovative paradigms of western universities, which means the university must have the duty of entrepreneurship in addition to the basic task of the teaching and researching. Entrepreneurial university always co-operate with the government and enterprises, to put their research achievements docking with the market and to improve the conversion rate of scientific and technological achievements by patent licensing. These will promote he universities’contribution to society, and improve the level of economic development. Since the emergence and development of entrepreneurial university in western countries, they had.attracted extensive attention all over the world, the new type of university spread from the United States to many countries in Europe, Latin America, Oceania and Southeast Asia. The emergence of entrepreneurial universities played an important role in local education and economic development.China is currently in the important period of taking innovative road and building innovative country, thus building high level entrepreneurial and innovative universities has important significance to achieve the goal of building an innovative country. From the development of western entrepreneurial university, we can know that building entrepreneurial university will promote the development of entrepreneurial and innovative country and promote the national comprehensive strength. Based on the need of building an entrepreneurial university, this paper focus on the emergence and development of western entrepreneurial university, then introduce the definition, reasons of rising and mode of operation, using the research method in strategic management to conduct a study of the university transformation in China. This paper has these following parts, at first it introduce and analyze the emergence and development of western entrepreneurial university, including the definition, element, reasons of rising and mode of operation. Through the interpretation of Three Spiral Theory, to summarize the relationship of entrepreneurial university with government and enterprise, and summarize the internal operation mode of entrepreneurial university and analyze the significance of the entrepreneurial university establishment in China. Then using SWOT method to generalize the internal and external factors which can influence the entrepreneurial university establishment. At last, according to the characteristics of our universities, summarize the strategy design of the transformation from research university to entrepreneurial university. This will promote our application-oriented university to transform to entrepreneurial university, which can increase scientific research strength and the rate of scientific and technological achievements, and improve the level of regional economic development and the national comprehensive competitiveness, and finally play an important role in taking innovative road and building innovative country.
