The academy is one of the significant pillars of Chinese ancient education, and is also an important part of traditional Chinese culture. As a feature of college teaching way, jianghui still has a profound impact on the education of today. Over the years,there are many research works about jianghui, but mostly are just concentrated in the Ming dynasty and other dynasties are rarely mentioned. As the last dynasty in the history of the development of academy, jianghui in the Qing dynasty, is not be as brilliant as Ming dynasty, but has its own characteristics. As an indispensable part of jianghui, this article studies the preliminary analysis and research on the characteristics of jianghui in Qing dynasty so that providing later scholars with abundant materials for reference.In this paper, it mainly adopts literature research. It gathers information about jianghui of Qing dynasty academy from local history, academy history, academy dictionary, academy regulatory integration and other books. On the basis of these data, compared with the Ming dynasty, it adopts the comparative study method to analyse the characteristics of jianghui in the Qing dynasty. At the same time, with history analysis, it emphatically analyses its political and cultural reasons in different periods and backgrounds. Finally, under summarized method, it summarizes three major functions of jianghui in the Qing dynasty academy and significance to the education of today.The research mainly divides into six parts. The first part mainly talks about the definition of the concept of the Qing dynasty, the academy, jianghui and explains its research status and significance. The second part would list activities of jianghui in the Qing dynasty, including some rules and regulations,to have the preliminary understanding of it in Qing dynasty. On the basis of the previous activity listed, the third part summarizes its characteristics, that is, quantity reduction, the time focused on the early Qing dynasty, not fierce debate, less obvious comments on current affairs and continuous education on people. The forth part analyses political reasons of jianghui in the Qing dynasty, mainly from the adjustment of academy policy, as well as the influence by the literary inquisition. The fifth part analyses cultural reasons of jianghui in the Qing dynasty, mainly from the gradual decline of neo-confucianism, the rise of textology and the obsession with stereotyped writing for the scholars. The last part analyses the function of jianghui in the Qing dynasty with the perspective of modern education, namely academic contention, the public enlightenment,current affairs review and some of the thinking for education today under these features.
