The Studies On Shandong Academy In Qing Dynasty

As an organization which has functions of teaching,library and academic research,the Chinese Academy occupies a special position in China’s educational and academic history.This thesis mainly explores the development of Shandong academies in Qing Dynasty,and it will be divided into three parts to discuss.The first part of the thesis mainly explores the records of203headmasters (山长) in70Shandong academies,including their names,native towns,educational backgrounds,writings and so on.Through investigation of the native towns of203headmasters,there are170Jinshi (进士) or Juren (举人) accounting for83.7%.There are134headmasters from Shandong,accounting for66%.Besides,a lot of headmasters comes from Jiangsu and Zhejiang.The second part discusses Shen Kepei’s lecturing deeds and his question and answer session record named Luoyuan Question and Answer(《泺源问答》)Based on the investigation of Luoyuan Question and Answer,we can find that Shen Kepei’s lectures still aim for the examination because of the need of academy teaching.But this book also has many contents about the transport,irrigation works,salt and so on. Under the influence of QianJia (乾嘉) academic, Shen Kepei praise highly the ZiXue(子学)We Should consider Luoyuan Question and Answer as a question and answer session record in the middle of Qing Dynasty from the point of educational history.The third part of the thesis describes the tectonic mechanism of inscriptions of academy.We can find that there are similar model in the inscription.First,the author retrospects the origin of academy to display its great significance. After that,the author decribes the academic tradition of Shandong from Confucius to Qing Dynasty. At last, the author expresses his hope.
