With the gradual transformation of curriculum reform from the macro field into the micro field of teaching, great importance has been attached to the study of teachers’ specialization increasingly, and their lecturing as an important aspect of professional development has become a hot topic. Body language of teachers,however, has not been prized consistently. Hence, it bears great significance to explore it from the aspect of sociology.This paper centered on the functions of body language of the primary school teachers in the classroom and the corresponding optimization as well by qualitative research. Mainly uses the participatory observation and in-depth interview.Body language, as pointed, exerts important influence on students, the relationship between teachers and students, classroom atomosphere and teachers themselves. For one thing,it functions as both a mask and important means of communication; for another, it plays a key role in inspiring students. Also, it provides an important source for students to imitate what their teachers demonstrate. A casual signal from teachers can sometimes result in misconceptions of students. Meanwhile, love and care will contribute to harmony. Referring to the concrete thinking mode of pupils, body language offers an aid to some subjects, such as Chinese, helping them to master knowledge and cultivate their emotion. Last, the factors of influence teachers’ body language are analyzed, and puts forward some relevant strategies of optimizing classroom body language.The purpose of this study is to arouse teachers’ attention to the body language in the class, promote them to update their concept and help them seek new ways to promote it.
