Data processing ability is one of the five basic abilities that students need to master in ordinary high school mathematics curriculum standard(experimental version),which plays an important role in students’ development of ability.Data processing ability is based on statistical knowledge,which mainly includes three aspects--data search,data collection and analysis,data extraction and application. The development of data processing ability is a dynamic process that is gradually formed, developed and improved.In order to have a clear understanding of the development level of data processing ability among high school students,especially that of present situation and features among high school students in minority nationality areas,based on cross—cultural mathematical education theory,this study uses self--made test paper on the development level of data processing ability of Tibetan and Han high school students and questionnaire about cultural background and mathematics learning situation as research tools.From the perspective of comparative analysis,this paper carried on some related researches on the development level of data processing ability among high school students by using the method of historical documents, the method of questionnaire and the method of interview.Through the analysis of the results of test paper,questionnaire and interview, this study mainly draw the following conclusions:(1)Data processing ability of Tibetan and Han high school students is in the medium level, and the average score of Han students is higher than Tibetan students;(2)The development level of data processing ability exists significant differences among Tibetan and Han high school students of different nations,grades and subjects;(3)The development level of data processing ability does not exist significant differences among Tibetan and Han high school students of different genders;(4)The nation,age and the interaction of them have a significant effect on the development level of data processing ability among Tibetan and Han high school students;(5)The test scores of the development level of data processing ability among Tibetan and Han high school students have a significant positive correlation with its math test results;(6)The ability of data search among Tibetan and Han high school students is relatively low;(7)The ability of data collection and analysis among Tibetan and Han high school students is in the medium level;(8)The ability of data extraction and application among Tibetan and Han high school students is in the medium level;(9)Family environment, school teachers, students’ personality traits are important cultural factors affecting the development level of data processing ability among Tibetan and Han high school students.Based on the present situation and features of the development level of data processing ability among Tibetan and Han high school students,the author put forward some suggestions for the training data processing ability from the perspective of teachers, students and cultural environment respectively.Firstly,teachers need to pay attention to the formation process of data processing ability in teaching and strengthen students’ ability of data search.Secondly,teachers should attach great importance to develop the habit of data processing ability and improve students’ consciousness of data collection and analysis.Thirdly,teachers also should pay attention to individual differences and promote different personality characteristics students’ all--around development of data processing ability.Finally,teachers should strengthen students’ ability of language understanding and transformation to use the teaching materials creatively.While students in the learning process need to overall understand the of statistical knowledge and improve the cognitive structure of data processing.Furthermore,students need to transform study consciousness and strengthen the learning motivation.Finally,Students also need to find a benign stimulation and improve study interest.Meanwhile,Tibetan areas need to improve living conditions and promote the comprehensive development of education.The government need to improve school teaching conditions and create a good learning environment. The society need to improve family environment and create a harmonious atmosphere.
