The Exploration Research Of Competence Building For Justice Social Workers In Beijing

Justice social work in today’s China is still an emerging field, however, it became an important support force for justice work and gained wide attention from Chinese Government and many kinds of sectors of society. This situation inspires more social worker to engage in the judicial discussion on professional competence training and connotation of professional competence is also the top of the agenda in education. May 2015, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate issued the prosecution of eight measures to strengthen judicial protection for minors, clearly links professional social work organization, purchase of services, such as, professional services to the force commitments to the community. Therefore, it is necessary and urgent for the justice social workers to build their judicial core competences.This study adopts qualitative research approach, based on respondents’ actual personal experiences and generalized their opinions and judgments of professional competence of justice social workers who engaged in services and accepted the in-depth interviews. According to interviewees’ opinions, the research findings are as follows: 1. On professional competences: understanding clients and build professional relationship, establishing effective communication, assessment, organizing, resources collecting and managing, administration, reports writing and introspecting and learning are generalized and highlighted. 2. In the form of ability enhancement: professional value and attitude, practical skills and the systematic courses are highlighted by interviewees. As result, based on research findings, researcher developed the following three recommendations: 1. Foster social values and upgrade sensibility in justice social work; 2. Carry out actions of social work knowledge learning and enhance justice social workers’ brainpower; 3. Conduct social work skills training to raise social justice workers’ execution.
