Based on the in-deep interview materials of 15 university students, this paper pictures the micro process of the student lovers’ breaking up, which benefits from the method of scenario analysis and generic analysis to depict the process, coping strategies and mental condition. Here comes the conclusion: For those university students who were forced to break up with their lovers, the break-up process can be divided into four stages by time, the period of relationship which has hidden problems, the period of relationship which has crisis, the period of relationship which has been saved, the period of relationship which is coming to end. The subtle break-up process can be divided into “gentle type” and “severe type” based on the intensity of the conflict. Both of the two types of university students who were forced to break up with lover have less power than their lover, and their lover have the power of “control destiny”, but they just have the power of “control behavior”. In the different stages of the process, the university students’ coping strategies are different. In the period of relationship which has crisis, their strategies are mainly negative relationship-oriented coping strategies and negative emotions-oriented coping strategies, in the period of relationship which has been saved and which is coming to end, their strategies are mainly problem-oriented coping strategies and positive relationship-oriented coping strategies. The cognitive part of coping strategies is before than the behaviors, the cognitive adjustment guides the behavior adjustment. In the break-up process, the university students have lots of incorrect cognitive value. Such as “Predict the love in the future pessimistically”,“Love is the full value of life”,“Take one’s own standards to require others”, “Totally deny themselves and deny others”. In the different stages of the process, the university students who were forced to break up with lover experience different emotions. In the period of relationship which has crisis, they experience anger, complain, blame, sad, and worried. In the period of relationship which has been saved, they experience regret, anxiety, frustration, confusion and resentment. In the period of relationship which is coming to end, they experience sadness, surprise, despair, anger, fear, worthlessness and sense of relief. We can establish and improve the prevention and intervention system to solve the lovelorn students’ psychological crisis by four methods. First, open the love value education courses; second, establish the university students’ mental health records; third, establish and improve the reporting system of lovelorn students’ psychological crisis; Fourth, improve assistance and counseling system of psychological crisis.
