The interactive whiteboard (IWB) is studied as a new platform for teaching and learning mainly in two fields:one is the research and development of IWB technology and the other is the application of IWB technology in teaching and education. Methods such as experiment, case study and action study are used in researches on IWB. However, the application of IWB in English class is still in a relatively immature phase. Various problems such as a lack of integrated resources and flawed hardware of the evaluation system of interactive teaching software still exist. In recent years, since the importance of IWB is increasingly recognized, research of the application of IWB in English classes has been deepened. Most papers published by academic journals are summery of the authors’ experience. Therefore, previous researches in this area lack theoretical bases and do not address specific characteristics of junior high school English education. Therefore, this thesis intends to examine current application of IWB in junior high school English classroom and put forward strategy of the application of IWB through analysis and investigation, so as to provide constructive suggestions to modern education reform and innovation.
