Citizen consciousness is the important guarantee of the rule of law, building a socialist country ruled by law and the realization of political civilization, also the important premise and condition to a state transition to civil society. College students are important human resources in our country, is the backbone of the socialist social construction, cultivate civic awareness of Chinese contemporary college students is not only related to the healthy growth of college students, but also to the Chinese characteristic construction and the development of socialist democratic politics. Therefore, cultivate civic consciousness of college students have important theory significance and the practice significance.The connotation of citizen consciousness is very rich, the domestic and foreign scholars have no unified exposition. Through the analysis of the academic definition about civic consciousness, this paper defines the connotation of citizen consciousness, and on this basis pointes out the connotation of cultivating civic awareness of college students in China and the main content, discusses the relationship between the cultivation of College Students’ Ideological and political education and citizen consciousness in detail. At the same time, this paper also discusses the theory and practice of cultivating civic awareness, this domain orientation for the clearance.
