The development scale and level of the country’s higher education is of great significance for measuring the level of the development of education,the degree of economic growth,the innovation of science and technology and other areas.In the promoting the healthy development of higher education and improving the quality of higher education, education,the evaluation of higher education plays a very important role,which also receive more and more attention.the method of the evaluation of higher education is based on a qualitative analysis.On quantitative analysis method,mathematical methods of statistics are commonly used principal component analysis,factor analysis cluster analysis and regression analysis.Application of multivariate statistical analysis in the evaluation of higher education,our predecessors did most of the work is based on an analysis method to address one aspect of the problem.So they may ignore the correlation between various aspect of the problem.Therefore,if the application of multivariate statistics are not flexible and efficient,the application of multivariate statistics will not be subject to certain limitations.Meanwhile,due to different methods of analysis of the ideological differences between the basis and starting point,the accurace results of data analysis will not be higher,and we can not objectively reflect the overall conditions.Evenly,it can be adverse for the future to develop reasonable higher education strategies.In order to make application of multivariate statical analysis in the evaluation of higher education specific and systematized,the paper base on multivariate statistical analysis theory and combine a variety of multivariate statistical analysis methods.At first,the paper illustrate the significance of multivariate statistical analysis and its application in the the evaluation of higher education;Then the paper introduce three method: factor analysis, cluster analysis and discriminant analysis,and include the relationship between eacher other.Finally,according to the surey of comprehensive qualities of college students,the paper integrated use of factor analysis, cluster analysis and discriminant analysis to confirme the methods of reasonable effective and give a pieces of advice on current higher education.At last,basing on this example,the paper extend the method of multivariate statistic analysis to other aspects of the higher education evaluation.such as,allocation resources in universities,filling volunteer and so on.Therefore, taking full advantage and flexibility in the use of the method of multivariate statistical analysis will provides a scientific、rational and effective way to evaluate the work of higher education and has great application value.
