The purpose of this study is to bring forward the effective teaching strategies of Geography for Senior Three Art Class in level three standard school by taking Senior Three Art Class of Dehua No.3 Middle School as a research object. Taking the effective teaching as the primary theoretical basis, the study reviews the studies. conducted by researchers both at home and abroad on teaching strategies of Geography and the effective teaching. By conducting a questionnaire survey, talks and action research, analyzing academic performance of art students in their senior three and the scores of national entrance exam, the present study tries to validate the effective teaching of Geography for Senior Three Art Class in level three standard school.The major findings of the study include:(1) On the whole the art students of level three standard school have weak learning foundation, lack of self-confidence and initiative, poor self-awareness, who need to guide and supervise. (2) A set of the five-step effective teaching strategy, namely:setting goals and having clear tasks, learning the basic knowledge first, looking for shortcuts by mind mapping, learning to apply flexibly by samples and improving ability through integration knowledge. (3) The effectiveness of the teaching strategy and the level of mastering knowledge are evaluated by the tests before and throughout the experiment and the experiment shows that the students in the experimental group become more self-confident than the students in the control group, which proves that it is an effective teaching strategy. (4) By analyzing the scores of the tests in every stage like the provincial and Quanzhou quality tests and the college entrance examination, it shows that the students in the experimental group can quickly adapt to the comprehensive examination, make more progress and achieve the desired results in the entrance examination like that the number of students passing the entrance exam in the experimental group is higher than that in the control group by 10%, which shows teaching in that period is effective.The significance of this study, focusing on the effective teaching of Geography for Senior Three Art Class, lies in the enlightening for Geography educators. As for Geography educators, it would serve as an important guidance for them to help art students get ready for the entrance exam effectively and also make up the lack of study on Geography effective teaching of art class in level three standard school.
