The study purpose of teaching mathematics comprehensive problems is to improve traditional problem-solving teaching method, as well as provide teachers problem-solving teaching reference for comprehensive problems through teaching practice. With literature research, this paper shows the definition of mathematics comprehensive problems and the study theoretical basis. Situations of students solving and teachers teaching in mathematics comprehensive problems were summarized with questionnaires and interviews investigation.Investigation result shows that the overall level of students solving comprehensive problems is low. There are four major reasons result in their difficulties in solving problems, namely insufficient confidence of problem-solving, lacking of problem-solving ideas, large span of thinking, and complicated solving procedure.Students finding no solving idea and lacking of problem-solving confidence are major difficulties that teachers encountered in teaching comprehensive problems. In order to settle those problems, teachers put forward measures to improve the effectiveness of teaching math comprehensive problems, such as combining gradient problems setting and explaining, transferring big problems into small ones as well as helping students put thinking in order. Those measures are in common with the principle of programmed instruction, which provides reference for further study of this paper.Based on the investigation and with designing teaching case, this paper makes an explanation of how to help students breakthrough difficulties to solve comprehensive problems with procedure teaching method. Finally, through action research, this paper employed procedure teaching method into teaching math comprehensive problems, and through questionnaire investigations on experiment subject, analysis and summary were performed on the achievements from perspectives of knowledge acquisition, ability cultivation and studv emotion, learning attitude.
