As the core of history educational resource in middle school, history textbook plays an important part in the history teaching in middle school, and its reform will straightly affect the achievement of educational goal. Under the background of economical globalization and political multi-polarization, the relationship between China and America becomes one of the most important bilateral relationships, and how to know and deal with the relationship between China and America depend on the comprehensive and correct knowledge about America and its history. Therefore, the study on the history of America in the history textbook has very important theoretical and realistic significance.This paper uses four versions of history textbooks under new curriculum standard as study carrier, takes American history as the research object, compares and analyses two aspects of history textbook writing principles and the structure of design in different versions. Then summarizing the writing features and disadvantages of different versions, and eventually putting forward suggestions for writing and using.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part mainly elaborates the definition of American history contents according to the "ordinary high school history curriculum standard" promulgated in 2003. The next section comparatively analyses different versions of American history contents follow history textbook writing principles, and then presents the writing features of each version. The third part discusses the writing characteristics of different versions from the structure of design aspect. In the final section, the paper summarizes and reflects four versions’American history compilation, thus come up with feasible suggestions due to the problems existing in it.
