In recent years, social work in the Mainland of China booming, the creation of a sharp increase in the number of universities and institutions of social work social work profession, study the theory and practical aspects of social work has also made significant progress. However, university graduates of social work in social work situation is not optimistic, turnover rate continues to increase. Causes wastage rate include lack of social recognition, low salary, career development of small, low social status, work pressure and learn useless, etc., many of the factors that led to a low degree of recognition of professional social work. Freshman social work profession as a new generation of reserve personnel to enhance their professional identity of social work will help improve their interest in professional learning, promoting their recognition of professional values, reduce wastage of social work professionals.The author investigated through questionnaires and interviews found that the social work profession XX college freshmen professional identity is low, mainly in five areas: insufficient awareness of the social work profession, interests professional learning is not high, in social willingness to work career low, social work theoretical knowledge and practical skills as well as lack of sufficient reserves of social work values of acceptance. For low freshmen professional identity of this problem, we intend to explore the role of social work in the process enhance their professional identity through group work intervention.The author based on the Survey freshman social work identity XX University, after analyzing the relevance and feasibility of group work involved, respectively, from the professional interest, practice areas, emotion management and understanding the role of social experience, theoretical knowledge and practical six aspects of skills and professional values, for group of six theme of "professional identity construction" of freshmen interventional and services to enhance their social work professional identity, and have achieved some results. Of course, in the intervention process also has many deficiencies, such as excessive influence of team leaders involved in the activities of the results, activity design is not flexible enough, the group is not properly handle unexpected situations and not enough emphasis on the second group and so on. This paper aims to reveal the group work in the promotion of social work professional identity freshman effectiveness and shortcomings, to follow-up studies provide experience, but also to reduce wastage of social workers, to promote the development of the new path of social work exploration.
