Research On The Application Of Case Work In Widowed Elderly’s Life Adjustment

With an aging population increases, pension issues of the elderly has become a concern of the community. As a special group of older people, there is a series of problems with widowed elderly. With the reality in China that "old before getting rich", using the methods of social work to intervene the widowed elderly’s life adjustment is essential. As one of the basic methods of Gerontological Social Work,case work has positive effects for elderly to provide spiritual comfort, material support, and cultivates good sociality ability and so on.In this study, it analyze the factors of widowed elderly’s life adjustment from psychological, physiological and social aspects. Through the records that social worker come into contact with the three windowed elderly when they work in G community, Yueyang City, Hunan Province to assess and analyze the process of case work. By comparing the changes of the widowed elderly before and after the intervention to rethink the advantages and disadvantages of the casework methods in the practical application that used in the widowed elderly’s life adjustment. In theory,case work can accumulate the experience for social work in the widowed elderly’s life adjustment, provide the research data and information for further research about understanding and studying the problems of the widowed elderly, promote the social work to serve for the widowed elderly groups better. In practice, exploring effective ways to solve the problems of the widowed elderly can provide effective guidance and proposals when social workers involved in such cases, it also can help to improve the practice experiences of the social work in the field of widowed elderly.
