Research Of Social Work Involvement Of Widowed Elderly’s Life Adjustment

The number of widowed elderly has increased since stepping into aging society. The government has built suitable policies and systems for elderly, meanwhile work hard to improve the elderly’s life condition. Widowed elderly has special requirements and problems, and the suitable solution is still under exploring. To this issue, social work Intervention may be a typical practice and effective solution. According to existing research, widowed elderly may face life adjustment problem and social worker intervention could play an important part. First step is to find out the problems they have, second step is to choose suitable social work method according to the problems, then summarize the case and rethink the whole process.Hence, this research focused on widowed elderly F of X institute in Nanjing, using related social work theories and methods to solve problems. First, review and study related literature of three aspects:group situation, interdisciplinary studies and social work studies to point out the weakness of the existing research and this research’s innovation and significance. Then, study and analyze the case F to discuss the superiority of social work intervention, find out the life adjustment problems and solve these problems from psychological, physiological and social aspects. Finally, summarize experiences gained from the case study and issues that required attention form significance, skill, action and ethics level.Social work’s intervention could help understand the problems of the elderly, find the suitable methods and form the local research system. Based on specificity of the case we could choose the appropriate methods and solve the problems. And crisis intervention model could solve the problems, which worth learning. The whole skills and methods could be promoted by other researchers.This research is trying to search the feasibility and effectiveness of social work intervention of widowed elderly’s life adjustment and put forward a set of intervention methods, rethink of specific model and method and point out the unsubstitutability of social work intervention.
