On the eve of the May Fourth Movement,the famous American educator John Dewey to China to speech,the content of his speech is mainly about education. At that time,Educators are worry about traditional teaching methods can not develop children initiative,so Dewey thought got passed attention of the education sector. The major newspapers,periodicals parts by propaganda Dewey’s pragmatism educational thought,for a time the country formed a pragmatism Educational Trends. With the arrival of Dewey,a series of the Western teaching methods under the Dewey’s influence across the oceans to the Chinese,such as Project Method,Dalton Laboratory plan,Winnetka System. These western’s thoughts has been widespread concern in the domestic educator,these experiments are implemented in the relevant school by Yu Ziyi,Liao Shicheng,Shu Xincheng and other educators. Because at that time the experiment did not fully consider China’s social needs,the teachers and other conditions and equipment,experiment ultimately failed to achieve the desired effect, but it also caused a reflection of the country’s educators,and created some teaching methods to adapt to China’s national conditions,such as,Tao Xingzhi’s “Integrity of Teaching ”,Chen Heqin ’s “living education”theory. Today a new round of China’s reform of teaching methods is ongoing,but in the process of reform the education sector for teaching methods are still a lot of confusion. Depth study of the influence of Western main teaching methods brought to China during this period,we will derive some inspiration.
