The Intellectual Capital And Technology Innovation Performance Of University:Mechanism Of Action Andempirical Study

In the twenty-first century, human society has entered the era of the knowledge economy from the industrial economy. In the knowledge economy trends, innovation has become the origin of competitive strength, and technological innovation is a manifestation of national strength and competitiveness, the level of technological innovation determines the country’s political and economic position in the world arena, universities as knowledge production base, is playing the role of the main force of technological innovation.Researches on intellectual capital initially concentrated in the enterprise, and then gradually extended to regional and other organizations, the researches on universities intellectual capital theory are gradually deepening and enriching. As scholars Goran Roos think that compared to corporate and other for-profit organizations, intellectual capital theory are more suited to public institutions, public sector and other non-profit organizations. Research on intellectual capital, more and more scholars have tried a new perspective and applied new methods to proven intellectual capital can promote the enterprise performance, but whether the university intellectual capital can also promote technological innovation performance of university remains a serious problem.In this background, this paper based on the concepts of intellectual capital and technology innovation performance of university, use the method combining literature research, surveys, qualitative and quantitative analysis, expect to explore the relationship between the three dimensions of university intellectual capital and university innovation performance by analyzing a lot of real-time data.First, the article reviews the different scholars’ research on the concept of intellectual capital and intellectual capital composition and the technological innovation performance of university, summarizes the results of previous studies, but also pointed out the lack of research, our study found that the majority remain in the theoretical stage, the lack of quantitative research. There are three main statements about the concept of intellectual capital, which are knowledge and ability, the value of intangible and assets. In this paper, we choose the first one to define the university intellectual capital. There are also three ways to divided intellectual capital, divided in two parts, three parts and four parts, Divided in three parts which is a common way, this article also follow this division, the university intellectual capital is divided in three dimensions that are human capital, structural capital and relational capital. Second, based on the previous studies analyzing the relationship between the university intellectual capital’s three dimensions and its influence on university innovation performance, the paper argues that human capital positively affect the structure capital and relationship capital, structure capital positively affect the relationship capital,three dimensions of university intellectual capital positively affect the technology innovation performance. Third, this paper from the intellectual capital of human capital, structure capital and relationship capital three dimensions selected a total of 13 evaluation index, while extracted six indicators to reflect the university technology innovation performance. And then complete the collection of data, use PLSsmart software analyzing data to test the hypothetical model. Last, according to the results of the data analysis, we do a mediating effect test and draw the final conclusions.The result of the research shows that university’s human capital has a positive impact on the structure capital and relationship capital, human capital is the most basic and most active one, capital structure also has a positive impact on the relationship capital, but the path coefficient is very small. Human capital and relationship capital can positively affect the technology innovation performance of university, human capital not only has a direct effect on technology innovation performance, but also has a indirect effect by relationship capital as mediator. Structure capital’s direct positive impact on technology innovation performance of university has not been verified, but through the mediating effect test, it is also found that structure capital has positive impact on innovation performance by relationship capital as mediator.
