Self-efficacy theory was proposed by a famous American psychologist Bandura in the late seventies. The theory caused widespread concern after it proposed. Many scholars and researchers’attention was attracted by the theory of self-efficacy and they used a variety of methods to study the theory and put it into many fields of social practice. The theory has played a very important role in many fields. With the deepening of the study, the theory has been deep into many other areas more than psychology and pedagogy. With a detailed study, the theory has made some progress in the field of sports these years.In recent years, the issue of youth participation in physical activity has caused a lot of concern of all sectors of society. We should notice that, students’physical fitness decline and their negative participation in sports has aroused some adverse social consequences. As a basic group of young people, pupils’self-efficacy in extracurricular sports becomes a very important issue. The study and analysis on this issue has a very important significance.Based on the theory of self-efficacy, my research uses the methods of documentation, investigation, mathematical statistics and logical analysis. With a mature self-efficacy scale, the researcher translates, rewrites and designs the questionnaire of the investigation towards the pupils’self-efficacy in extracurricular sports of Taiyuan city. After the sample survey of Taiyuan’s pupils, the researcher uses a scientific method to analyze and evaluate the results.The results show that:1.The pupils’extracurricular sports self-efficacy scores shows that:Most pupils’scores are in the middle level; good and excellent scores occupy a lower proportion; there are small numbers of unqualified scores. Overall scores are in the middle level.2.Pupils in different gender do not exist significant difference in extracurricular sports scores of self-efficacy. Third grade and fourth grade belongs to the middle grade in primary school. Fifth grade belongs to the high grade in primary school. The pupils between the middle grade and the high grade exists an obvious significant difference in extracurricular sports scores of self-efficacy. At the same time, pupils’extracurricular sports scores of self-efficacy and their degree of preference for sports exists an obvious significant relationship; pupils’extracurricular sports scores of self-efficacy and their choice of different sports do not exists a significant relationship.3.Family sports, community sports and campus extracurricular sports are external factors of pupils’extracurricular sports self-efficacy. Family sports and pupils’extracurricular sports scores of self-efficacy exists a very significant relationship. Pupils’extracurricular sports scores of self-efficacy are higher when they live in a family with great atmosphere of sports.Community sports and pupils’extracurricular sports scores of self-efficacy exists a very significant relationship. Pupils’extracurricular sports scores of self-efficacy are also higher when they live in a community with great atmosphere of sports.Campus extracurricular sports and pupils’ extracurricular sports scores of self-efficacy exists a very significant relationship too. The right amount and positive extracurricular activities can bring a higher extracurricular sports scores of self-efficacy to the pupils.
