Extra- curricular activities play an important role in the teaching methods of music education.Therefore,as a significant part in music teaching practice, its status should not be ignored. "Compulsory music curriculum standards" clearly pointed that "Music class in compulsory education stage should be designed for all students.Teachers and students help mutually to put the latter’s feelings towards music and participation in musical activities on the high agenda." " show respect for the student’s personalities,encourage students to take an active part in various musical activities,express their emotions through their own unique ways. " " Notice of the general office of the Ministry of education on the implementation of the sports, art 2+1project" in primary and secondary schools in the compulsory education stage "decided to carry out the “sports, arts 2 + 1 project” in the national compulsory education stage," which assure that through teaching and activities organized by the school,each student can master at least two sports skills and an art specialty beside class sports and arts education, which will make a good foundation for students lifelong development.Moreover,besides music teaching in the classroom, extracurricular musical activities, allows students to have a broader practice platform, broader musical horizons,and richer experience,which can all help the students improve the capabilities in music appreciation, expression and creation and so forth.The activities can also make the school culture more colorful, the musical atmosphere better,and finally promote the flourish of the music education.The Extra- curricular music activities in the primary schools of Yantai Economic and Development Area(YEDA) showed its own unique features, such as Orff music events, campus drama interest groups, melodica interest groups. Through the annual art show,students’ choral festival with the theme of "through singing to lift our spirit up",students’ drama contest and other activities, it has fully demonstrated the great spirit of YEDA.Reviewing the current situations of the Extra- curricular musical activities in China, we can not deny that some problems still exist. In order to objectively、 truly learn about the current status of the YEDA primary schools’ Extra- curricular musical activities, I reviewed a number of relevant literature, and read other people’s papers related to this topic, made a detailed questionnaire to make aninvestigation towards YEDA music teachers and primary school students to obtain first-hand information. This thesis is divided into four parts.Through the research and analysis of the current situation of extra-curriculum musical activities in YEDA primary schools,I designed a comprehensive and reasonable questionnaire.After the analysis of the research outcome,we can learn the situation about the practice of extra-curriculum musical activities,the match level of school’s hardware and software,the students’ eagerness and need toward it,the parents’ wishes toward this and the understanding and support from the social environment.Learn the current status of the extra-curriculum musical activities in YEDA primary schools from every aspect and how the unique economic and culture of YEDA influence it,combine the classroom teaching and extra-curriculum activities to adapt to all students,make more children participate in the extra-curriculum musical activities!Yeda government departments, schools and the community should increase investment,to form a concerted effort to reasonably configure the hardware infrastructure, and reduce urban-rural difference,which should be guaranteed.Optimize the curriculum and improve teachers’ professional quality,which is the core soul.Chapter I: Introduction, Chapter 2: Overview of the elementary music education in YEDA, Chapter III: The survey and following analysis of the Extra- curricular musical activities in YEDA primary schools, Chapter 4: The Improvement Strategy and Development Conception about the Extra- curricular musical activities in YEDA primary schools.
