The management of problem students has always been a difficult problem in education management, and it is also a problem that many schools have been exploring.In recent years, with the rapid development of society and the popularity of Internet,people’s outlook on life, values and moral values have been affected by the impact of diversified culture. In rural-urban fringe ordinary high school, the number of problem students is gradually increasing, and the types of problem students are increasingly diversified. These circumstances not only brought a lot of pressure to the school teaching, but also brought new challenges to the school management.This study is mainly from the aspects of the characteristics and causes of problem students, including the following aspects: First of all, this study defined the basic meaning of "rural-urban fringe", "problem students" and so on, and summarized the relevant theoretical basis and research status. Secondly, the study investigates and analyzes the discipline situation of problem students in rural-urban fringe ordinary high school through questionnaires and interviews and other methods. And then, the study analyzes the characteristics of the rural-urban fringe ordinary high school and the status of problem students’ education management. Combined with the author’s work experience, this paper summarizes the reasons and problems in the management of problem students. Finally, some management strategies and suggestions are put forward to solve these problems.Through the research, the author found that the number of problem students in rural-urban fringe ordinary high school is not much, but the bad influences of the disciplinary action should not be ignored. The investigation results show that the problem students have certain characteristics in their studies, behavior and psychology.The causes of the problem students are generally related to the social, family, school and students. There are many problems in the education management of the problem students, because of the characteristics of the rural-urban fringe ordinary high school.The author believes that if we want to improve the problem students’ management,society should purify the cultural environment and build more students cultural and recreational places. Society should help to teach the problem teenagers in society in order to reduce their bad influence on students. Society should strengthen the positiveenergy of the media, and establish a positive direction of public opinion. Families should strengthen the communication with the school and actively cooperate with the school education. Parents should strengthen the communication with the school to grasp the child’s dynamic in time and cooperate with the school education in time to correct the students’ problems as soon as possible. They should also take part in the parent class to improve their education level, and increase parent-child activities to promote the exchange of students. Schools need to establish a new model of education.They should pay attention to the potential impact of Problem students’ factors, improve the problem students’ Growth Portfolio, establish and improve the early warning mechanism, management system and supervision feedback mechanism.I hope that this study can help the school to solve the conundrum of problem students’ management, and it will contribute to the management of problem students.
