| Under the circumstances of the increasingly internationalized 21 st century, no matter what occupation you are going to have, you will unavoidably deal with English. During this process, fluent and successful communication in English seems to be extremely crucial to us. Nevertheless, when we reflect on what we have gone through in middle schools with the ultimate purpose of passing the College Entrance Exam, teachers’ passion for teaching spoken English together with students’ learning interest are both surprisingly low. But in reality, what we have learned in school is not adequate for our actual needs. Set in such background, as teachers, we are supposed to employ the unlimited teaching resources to make English, a language subject, to be a true useful one during the limited teaching hours in school. In this case, this thesis is aimed to illustrate and test the efficiency and feasibility of multimedia teaching on Spoken English Teaching in senior high schools which helps to improve students’ spoken English and autonomous learning ability.Besides, in this thesis, the research methodologies involved are mainly questionnaire, interview as well as test. Firstly, the writer carried out questionnaires to help collect related information about their attitudes toward learning spoken English. Secondly, individual interview and focus group and related tests took place. Then, the teacher arranged the students to perform the duty report with the integration of Multimedia Teaching. Finally, after analyzing and comparing the data, the author came to the conclusions safely that the Multimedia Teaching can develop students’ positive attitudes towards learning spoken English, and it can also help to improve students’ spoken English and autonomous learning ability. What’s more, this paper follows exactly the principle of Constructivist Learning Theory(CLT) and Multiple Intelligence(MI). CLT belongs to one essential branch of cognitivism put forward by J. Piaget. In terms of the creativity, as we know, with the rapid development of information technology, many researchers have focused on largely how to put the modern technology into classroom, concerning the students’ participation and the richness and variety of the multimedia courseware about English listening, reading and writing which contribute a lot to the examination paper from the teachers’ angle. However, the thesis pays adequate attention to providing the students with the availability of the multimedia in the spoken English class, allowing students to be the dominant. As a consequence, the teacher can help transform the students’ way of learning oral English from a passive one to a more exploratory and cooperative one, enabling them to have the concept that spoken English teaching happens in every English class, not restricted to the given one in each module. Hence, this thesis has its own creativity and practical significance to some extent. |
