In 2001, the new national basic education curriculum reform started. The new curriculum advocates that we should cultivate students’ interest in learning, stimulate students’ motivation to learn, arouse students’ desire for knowledge and enhance students’ classroom participation. Over the past decade, the new curriculum reform continues to deepen and develop in practice, with impressive results. In 2010, "Long-term Education Reform and Development Plan" issued by the current field of education is the most important programmatic document, which once again clearly stated: Teachers should focus on combination learning and thinking, promote heuristic, inquiry, discussion, participatory teaching, help students learn how to learn, stimulate students’ curiosity and interest. Teachers should create a favorable environment of independent and freedom for students. The clearest idea of these statements is self-learning. Independent learning is practical interpretation of the essence of education. Training Students self-learning ability is the responsibility of educators. Students self-learning ability will lay a solid foundation for lifelong learning, but also is the important cornerstone to achieve "educational dream, dream of powerful country".This paper mainly does research by questionnaires, interviews and document analysis. First, we have investigation and analysis the current status of self-learning ability of high school chemistry. Through conducting interviews and questionnaires for the part of chemistry teachers and part of high school students in my school, and analyzing the research results of questionnaires and interviews. We can find the following questions of students, independent learning awareness is not high, self-learning motivation is not strong, independent study interest is not high, the lack of self-study methods and strategies and other issues. Then, on this basis of collating and analysis the open literature, we try to study some problems of the independent study of high school chemistry. We combine construction learning theory, humanistic theory, subjective education theory and innovative educational theory, then put forward the corresponding training strategy of independent learning ability of high school chemistry. Finally, we do a practical research of training strategies to verify the validity of the strategies from the practice. This article is intended to provide effective experience for teachers and students to help teachers improve teaching efficiency and lay the foundation for comprehensive training and lifelong development of students. This paper is divided into seven parts to discuss the present situation of independent learning ability of high school chemistry under the New Curriculum. The first part is the preface, the section consists mainly of background, research objectives, research significance and research methods. The second part is a review study, the section sorts out some conception of independent learning and self-learning ability. The third part is the theoretical basis, the section summarizes related theory of the self-learning ability under new curriculum which consists mainly of construction learning theory, humanistic learning theory, subjective education theory and innovative educational theory, and use theory as the theoretical basis of this research. The fourth part is questionnaires and interviews, the part is to investigate the students’ self-learning ability, in order to understand the status of self-learning ability of high school chemistry. The fifth part is high school chemistry autonomous learning ability Strategy, the part presents some of the students’ self-learning ability strategy. The sixth part is the conclusion; the part is a summary of in front parts, meanwhile, has a reflection of insufficient in research to hope this study can obtain more subsequent results. In this paper, by the above six parts, we explore the present situation of chemical self-learning ability of high school students, in order to provide a reference and guidance for the majority of teachers and students.
