In recent years, the economic boom in China has accompanied with a craze for traditional Chinese culture. President Xi Jinping repeatedly put forward to inherit and develop traditional cultural highlights. Primary and secondary schools, as the important base of cultural continuity, should make its full play in developing Chinese culture; therefore, it is of great significance to probe into the cultural elements embedded in the high school textbook to work out a strategy to integrate the traditional Chinese cultural highlight into the language teaching classroom. Such teaching activities will enable high school students to better understand the essence of Chinese culture, while enriching the teaching proper. Students are expected to cultivate politeness, good morals and attitude towards life, which will contribute to the fostering of a sound personality via an immersion into the traditional Chinese cultural context. In the past three years, the integration of the traditional Chinese cultural highlights in the classroom teaching has been implemented in various forms including cultural classroom, reading to write. The gain in students’ psychological and academic performance also provides incentive for further research.
