Along with the reform of the new curriculum, the concept of "student-oriented classroom" is becoming one of focuses which researchers pay attention to. With the deepening of theoretical and practical researches, a variety of valuable teaching results have come into being. Underlying the concepts of teaching reform and "student-oriented classroom", this study attempts to conduct an empirical study where a STUDENT-ORIENTED classroom is expected to be constructed with LOW COST EXPERIMENTS(SLE). In the study, a leading group and a management group are built up. 8 classes from Eighth and ninth graders in a junior high school are the subjects. Then SLE is implemented in the 8 classes. The results of pre-experiment and post-experiment are compared. This study takes physics class in junior high school as the objective and discusses how to increase students’ participation in physical experiment with low cost, relationship between teachers and students, thus improving the teaching effects and support the construction of "student-based classroom" in junior middle school. Pre-class assignment, group discussion, presentation, and encouraging comment are adopted in the process. In the process, the theoretical analysis, interview, questionnaire and teaching practice are carried on. In the study, such principles of “step by step”, “dynamic observation”, “student-oriented and classroom-based teaching” are put forward. Students’ participation and teaching effect are analyzed on the basis of investigation and interviews. And result is as follows. SEL are able to increase students’ participation, interest in physics learning, and improve their grades, thus the concept of student-oriented classroom is displayed. And we put forward the following specific measures. Teachers should persist the principle of building up a student-centred classroom, giving priority to innovation, improve teachers’ quality, and strengthening the process of supervision. Significance of SEL is interpreted in a number of typical cases of SLE in junior high school. The study proves that the students of 8 classes perform better in learning interest, ability and grade than that before the experiment.
