Primary School New Science Curriculum Standards clearly pointed out that scientific inquiry is the main way of scientific learning. The "second classroom", which is mainly based on extracurricular scientific inquiry activities, is gradually playing an important role in the science education of the primary school. The "second classroom" in science in primary schools refers that students use school resources, natural resources or social resources to expand the scientific activities besides the classroom teaching. The "second class" can effectively supplement the defects of classroom teaching in time and space. The activities of the second classroom in science are flexible. They’re scientific inquiry activities which are mainly based on the students, and the teacher is the second. The "second classroom" closely contacts with the classroom teaching and the scientific requirements of the curriculum, remains consistent, continuous, complementary to students’ curriculum objectives and improves students’ scientific inquiry ability. Domestic and foreign counties are actively developing various types of scientific second classroom models. Although there’re many forms, many shortcomings still exist. There is no real booster of primary school science teaching system. It needs further exploration about how to guide students to effectively carry out the scientific activities of the second classroom.This thesis clearly defines the "second classroom" based on the theory research, practice analysis and case evaluation and puts forward the reform suggestions according to the practice of students’ extracurricular inquiry.The whole thesis is divided into four parts: the first part is the introduction, overall elaborating from research beginning and research method. This part sets up some research objectives, and summarizes the domestic and foreign research situations; the second part mainly expounds the related concepts of the "second class", mainly from the definition of the "second class" and characteristics of education. The third part expounds the practical application of the second class and effective strategies of the second classroom instruction from the teachers’ guidance of the "second class" scientific inquiry the guidance of. The last part of the "second classroom" simply talks about the education value.
