Local history resources are an important part of curriculum resources and it is the most vivid and specific teaching materials. The application of local history curriculum resources is of great significance to the reform of high school history teaching under the background of new curriculum reform: it will help to implement the relevant requirements of the new curriculum reform, help to stimulate students’ interest in learning history, help to change the way of history learning and improve their abilities; it can enrich the history teaching resources in high school, expand the knowledge of history, deepen the students’ understanding of the textbook, and improve the effect of history teaching; it will innovative the ways of moral education, cultivate students passion to motherland and enhance their sense of responsibility and mission so as to improve students’ ideological and political quality in the end; it will help to promote the development of history teachers, transform their teaching mode and deepen the reform of history teaching in senior high schools; it reflects the educational thought of a school and promote the formation of school characteristics; it’s good for the development and heritage of local culture and will help to develop and protect local history resources.This paper consists of three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. The first chapter is introduction. It discusses the causes and significance of the topic, status of research at home and abroad as well as the methods and innovation of research. The main body is made up of three chapters. Chapter two, collecting and organizing local history curriculum resources in Qinhuangdao. The researcher organizes and sorts out Qinhuangdao political history, economic history, cultural history and local curriculum resources according to the textbooks in the order of time: ancient, modern, contemporary. Chapter three, the application of local history curriculum resources in high school history teaching. The researcher discusses it from two aspects: the basic principles and methods of the local history resources in high school history teaching. Chapter four, problems of the application of local history resources in high school history teaching. This chapter is discussed from three aspects: the restriction of social concept and system of education, history teachers’ quality, activity organization, and funding problems. The third part is conclusion. The researcher highly summarizes the contents of the paper and put forward some questions which need to be thought over and discussed deeply.This paper is intended to provide convenience to history teachers, researchers and local authorities to help them to understand the local history of Qinhuangdao and apply it to high school history teaching. Besides, this paper provides a reference to the curriculum reform in high school history teaching.
