The cultivation of thinking ability in middle school history teaching is not only an important field in the study of history teaching theory, but also an important content of the reform of history teaching in middle school. In the current "high school history curriculum standard(Experiment)", the Ministry of education clearly puts forward that the middle school history learning should be "through the analysis, synthesis, comparison, induction and generalization of the historical facts." Under the guidance of the new curriculum concept, people realized that the cultivation of historical thinking ability can reflect the profound influence on the development of students’ life.Through the author’s teaching practice and experience, to develop the high school students’ historical thinking ability as the perspective, the high school history classroom teaching as a platform, in the context of new curriculum reform, the study discusses the concept of historical thinking ability, analysis of the factors that hinder the development of the history of the high school students, and to explore the principles and ways of cultivating historical thinking ability in high school history teaching.This paper argues that the way to cultivate high school students’ historical thinking ability is to lay a solid foundation for the development of historical thinking ability, to optimize the design of the problem to train the historical thinking ability, to cultivate students’ thinking ability in the teaching of historical materials, and to pay attention to extracurricular reading and to develop students’ historical thinking.
