Study On The Construction Of Private College Counselor Teams In Jiangsu Province

College counselors are the main force in university students’ ideological and political education, therefore attaching great importance to the construction of counselor team is the effective and important guarantee to realize the sustainable development of colleges and universities. As an important part of higher education, the private colleges and universities also need an outstanding team of counselors. Today, with the situation changing both at home and abroad, the counselors’role, working mode and contents have changed. It is urgent and necessary to construct the counselor team in accordance with the requirements of the new period. Private colleges and universities are more eager to strengthen the construction of college counselor team because of its special educational form and social status.Based on the existing research achievement, this paper analyzes the present situation of the construction of private college counselor team in Jiangsu province and its existing problems, using normative research method combined with field survey. It also tries to provide countermeasures and suggestions. This paper is divided into three parts. The first part focuses on the theoretical basis of the research on the construction of private college counselors’team in Jiangsu province, including its research background, research significance, and related concepts, such as Private Colleges and Universities, College Counselors, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, and Fredrick Herzberg’s Two Factors Theory. The second part analyzes the present situation of the construction of private college counselor team in Jiangsu province and its existing problems with the empirical research of the construction of counselor team in Sanjiang University. It also summarizes the experience in the construction of the student affairs management team in foreign countries and its inspiration. In the third part the author puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions from three aspects. Firstly, the leaders need to attach importance to building up the counselor team of new age. Secondly, the government needs to strengthen the support for the private colleges and universities and perfect the system of management rules. Lastly, the colleges and universities need to make plans for developing and constructing counselor team.There are two innovations in the paper. The first is that the research object is Jiangsu private college counselors. With full investigation the paper analyzes the achievements and existing problems of Jiangsu private college counselor team and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions. The second is research method. The author selects representative Sanjiang University as the research object and analyzes its existing problems descriptively based on the existing research achievements. The paper puts forward targeted countermeasures and suggestions for developing Jiangsu private college counselor team. It also provides theoretical and practical basis for educational administrative department to improve the management and thus promote the construction of private college counselor team.
