The Intervention Study Of Support Group In The Women Of Urban Low Subsistence Allowances

Market-oriented economic system reform of our country brought about the rapid development of the economy on one hand, but on the other hand, with the economic system transition and social transformation also produced many social problems. Among them, the urban poverty problem is outstanding, especially the urban low-income workers as a vulnerable groups at the bottom of the society. While, the current social relief mainly adopts the passive relief way——"teach them to fish", don’t pay attention to the capacity building of this group, make it difficult to get rid of the life predicament, so the social work of "help them to help themselves" is needed to involve in the rescue work.By reference to previous research as well as household interview, I found that when the women of urban low subsistence allowances face the problems of the family, they may in a state of powerless. They have three requirements:self-awakening and ability development, relationship and support, participation and express. So the author try to adopt the method of support group, under the guidance of empowerment theory, to empower the women of urban low subsistence allowances from three levels of personal, interpersonal relationships, social participation, to promote the development of the self ability, expand the social support networks, and promote the community participation, to change the status of "powerless" life, and to improve their living standards.According to the evaluation of the result of the support group, it turns out that support group interposes the women of urban low subsistence allowances is very effective. It provided psychological support, promoted capacity building, expanded social communication network, promoted community participation and increased the expression of the interests, and empowered the women of urban low subsistence allowances. At last, the author introduced several enlightenment from the intervention of support group in the women of urban low subsistence allowances.
