Quality is the core problem of higher education. With the increasingly fierce international competition today, universities with high quality are needed to cultivate high quality students. Based on the perspective of student engagement, we intended to know the undergraduate students engagement from research university by using the method of questionnaire survey and theoretical study in order to discuss the quality of undergraduate education from different perspectives and make some suggestions for improving the quality of the undergraduate education.First of all, we analyzed the methods and models of the current higher education quality evaluation by reading a lot of literature, and we found that there are two most popular ways of evaluation models, which are "external resources evaluation" and "internal value added evaluation". From above, we can learnstudents are the main body of learning, this study attempts to analyze the current situation of undergraduate education quality from the perspective of students. According to the literature review, NSSE and SERU are the important methods of "internal value-added evaluation", which have received enthusiastic response from many universities.Secondly, we made the survey questionnaire "Investigation on the learning engagement of undergraduate students in Research Universities" by studying the "Student Experience in the Research University" and "Student Experience in the Research University", combining with the actual situation of undergraduate students in China, to design the. The survey samples of this questionnaire are the undergraduate students from E、S and T universities, in the end of this survey, we analyzed the static data of all samplings.Thirdly, in the statistical inference part we made a report of learning situation of all samplings with the five dimensions, which included students’academic challenge, students’ enriched education experiences, supportive campus environment for students, the level of the student-faculty interaction, students’ active and cooperative learning, and then we made a deep analysis of those statics from gender, grade, major, home places,admission forms. In the end we concluded the value-added statics of the college students in their undergraduate period according to their survey data of the academic ability.Finally, we made some useful suggestions according to what we have investigated in order to further improve the quality of undergraduate education in E University. Universities should treat students as the center; pay more attention to student’s learning input; emphasize student-faculty interaction, improve the level of active and collaborative; respect student’s difference and teach students according to their aptitude; improve student’s English level, and develop their critical thinking so as to improve the quality of higher education.
