This study aims to deeply reveal the current situation of Soochow University undergraduate engagement through the survey, and offered suggustions for improving the education quality of Soochow University. In this study, the questionaire of Soochow University Student Engagement Survey is the research tool, which based on NSSE 2014. Atter cultural adaptation, the research tool had good reliability and validity indicators. This survey takes 1040 Soochow University undergraduates for study, discuss the satus of different student groups’(with or without experience of cadres, whether gaining the reward, the origin, the highest level of education completed by the students’ parents, different grades, disciplines, different acdemic performance ranking etc.) engagement in effecitive educaional practice. Using the stepwise regression analysis explore the impact of the student’s individual factors and on student’s attainment.The study has indicated that:(1) On the whole, students who were the cadres, gained the reaward, from city, parents completed high education, the top 5% in the acdemic ranking have higher levels of engagement than students who were not cadres, not gained reward, were from rural areas, had less educated parents, the last 20% in the acdemic ranking students;(2) On the whole, the freshman and senior students showed higher level of involvement in learning; students from different disciplines focused on different aspect of engagement;(3) On the whole, Soochow University undergraduate education curriculum objectives were flat, reaching less in high-order goals;(4) Overall, the efficienvy of student and faculty interaction in Soochow University is not enough both in and out of classroom.(5) Compared with the students’ individual congenital factors, student’s learning inputs factors are more predictable.
