The art vocational education of our country has a long history and thick accretion, which works as a basic and mainstay in training art talents. Art vocational college is the art talents training base, and also has prepared a large number of literature and art grassroots workers for our country. The training of art talents can not live without a sufficient and excellent number of teachers. Cultural knowledge is a requisite component part of a art student’s comprehensive quality. Through the basic cultural class teaching, art students can firmly master and use good basic knowledge of the learning phase, the basic theories, which improve their cultural accomplishment and comprehensive quality and form a scientific world outlook, which provide the necessary foundation knowledge condition for their future career development. So the quality of the culture course teachers directly affects achieving the goal of art vocational college education. However, in practical teaching work in art higher vocational colleges, many colleges do not pay enough attention to basic cultural courses and culture course teachers. Throughout the development process of the art vocational education, the professional developments of culture course teachers are often ignored.The thesis based on the sample survey of an art vocational college,through questionnaire survey and interview, fully investigated the situation of the professional development of culture course teachers, and found the problems of them. From the aspects of college orientation, the management system of teachers and the self-assessment of teachers, thethesis analyzed the universalistic obstruction on the structure of teaching staff, professional attitude, professional knowledge and professional ability of the culture course teachers in art vocational colleges nowadays.The thesis raised some relevant strategies: Art vocational colleges should scientifically locate their position, perfect their management system of teachers, build a scientific evaluation system, and strengthen the teaching staff construction. The culture course teachers should break with the conventional idea, and seek independent development. Through above strategies, establishing platform for culture course teachers’ professional development, encourage culture course teachers’ professional development from consciousness to practical channels have ample power of implementation is an important content of contemporary vocational education.
