According to the figures released by The National Working Committee Office on Aging, China’s aging population will reach 248 million by 2020. Aging level will reach17%. The increasing number of elderly population brought great pressure to the society,how to effectively alleviate the pressure, how to put large elderly population into social valuable resources through elderly education, the whole society has paid more and more attention to the topic. In this paper, we study the implementation status of University of Third Age in Australia. In order to help the elderly education development in our country.This thesis is divided into four parts:In chapter one, the introductory part, it discusses the causes of the study, meanings of the study, literature review, methods, relevent definitions and reasearch innovation and deficiency. This part is the basis of the full text writing.The second chapter studies the development of U3 A in Australia. Mainly includes the origin and development of the U3 A and the development of U3 A in Australia. Using history method, studies the development of U3 A in Australia, master its development from the vertical dimension.The third chapter is the case study. This chapter is the examination of two case U3 As in Australia. That is Melbourne University of the Third Age and University of the Third Age Online(U3A Online). Researches and studies of the two cases respectively develop from overview, organization and management, teachers and students, courses,website construction. By analysing their respective characteristics,points out what we could learn from it.The fourth chapter is the characteristics and the inspirations. According to the study. Here follows four characteristics. At first, the rules is complete; Secondly, the course is humanized; Thirdly, meetings at home and abroad is frequent; Fourthly, the website construction is of high quality. The inspirations contain five parts. First of all,Following the scientific process, formulate complete rules of association; Secondly, rely on the power of universty, develop the courses in online university of the thirdage.Thirdly, enhance cooperation and communication, organise domestic and international meetings. Fourthly, using modern educational technology, to strengthen the construction of internet of university of the elderly. At last, improving the level of technology, develop University of the elderly Online.
