In primary and middle School,class sponsor is the main implementer of the daily morality and management work.Also he is the leader of students’ healthy growth.In the school,class sponsor is fully in charge of students’ thought, learning, health,life and so on.Class sponsor is the backbone of realizing the purpose of education and promoting students to develop in all directions.The rapid development of knowledge,science and technology and further promote of the new curriculum reform need higher teachers, including class sponsors. The behavior of teachers determines the quality of the teaching.Accordingly,The level of the class sponsor’s competence also determines the quality of class management. Now they must improve their own ability to adapt to the needs of the work of class sponsor.With the help of the competency theory’s guiding ideology,this paper carries on the empirical research on the current situation of the class sponsor competency in the city’s primary school by using literature, questionnaires and interviews.Then the paper sorts the dates by using frequency, percentage and other descriptive statistics.It finds out some problems of class sponsor competency in the primary school of changsha.It shows the problems of lack of knowledge and ability of class management and weak personality traits which to be perfect.In the end,the author analyzes the problems from the three aspects of the class sponsor’s internal factors, the treatment of allowance and post-profession training.The level of class sponsor competency plays a very important role in the professional growth of class sponsor.This paper analyses the competence of knowledge dimension, ability dimension and personality dimension. Then the paper puts forward some targeted and operable countermeasures,that is to say, creating a harmonious atmosphere,carrying out the school-based training and improving self-consciousness.The ultimate goal of this paper is putting forward measures to improve class sponsor competency, hoping to help them grow and improve the professional level with the help of competency theory.At the same time,the author also wants to be able to provide references for teaching management departments and schools on selection and training of teachers.Certainly,because of the short time and the constraints of various subjective and objective conditions, this study also needs to further study on the construction and improving strategies of class sponsor’s competency model in the city’s primary school.
