Modern and contemporary prose has the pivotal status in the reading teaching of junior middle school, but the present situation of junior middle school modern and contemporary prose reading teaching actually is not so optimistic. It has not been able to display the teaching function and education value fully in the junior middle school Chinese language teaching. And it also fundamentally affects the teaching quality and the enhancement of the students’ accomplishment. This article utilizes the documentary method, the case analytic method, the experience summary method, and follows the new curriculum idea. It combines curriculum, teaching theory, discipline knowledge and so on to analyze the characteristic of modern and contemporary prose aesthetic, and to search basic idea and the principle of junior middle school modern and contemporary prose aesthetic reading teaching, then to search mentality and method of the junior middle school modern and contemporary prose aesthetic reading teaching, so it provides a new mentality and direction for a full display teaching function and the education value of modern and contemporary prose in the junior middle school language teaching.This article altogether has three chapters. The first chapter analyzes the present situation of the junior middle school modern and contemporary prose reading teaching and it carries on the reason analysis from the text, the student, and the teacher three aspects. The second chapter carries on the limits to the concept of the prose, then accounts for the proportion of modern and contemporary prose in the teaching material and tests to analyze the important status of modern and contemporary prose in the junior middle school language reading teaching, and then elaborates characteristic of modern and contemporary prose aesthetic: the beauty of language、artistic conception、emotion and philosophizing. And analysis the basic idea and principle of junior middle school modern and contemporary prose aesthetic reading teaching. The third chapter analysis the basic mentality of junior middle school modern and contemporary prose aesthetic reading teaching.
