As the industry "4" era and "Chinese made 2025" is coming, it provides a good opportunity to develop the higher vocational education, and it also requires a new level of training talent in higher vocational colleges.It is only a skilled and skilled person who cannot meet the needs of the times. We have to train the college students with the corresponding professional skills and key skills.Higher vocational mathematics curriculum provides an important way to develop students’ transferable skills. This paper mainly introduces which basic skills are related with the vocational mathematics curriculum and how to cultivate the student’s key skills. It also states what measures should we take to cultivate students’ key skills.Firstly, the paper states the research background, purpose and significance,briefly introducing the conception of key skills, analyzing the development history of key skills, stating the significance of cultivating the key skills and the methods of making research.And then through investigation survey, the paper make an analysis on the present situation of the mathematics curriculum in the higher vocational college. The paper make the survey from the concept, content, implementation, evaluation and other aspects of higher vocational mathematics curriculum in order to find the problem of the cultivate the student’s key skills.Combining the real situation of higher vocational mathematics curriculum with students’ present situation, this paper puts forward the optimization strategy of the key skills of the students in higher vocational mathematics curriculum. From the aspects of curriculum concept, content settings, teaching implementation and evaluation mechanism, the paper propose the measures to build the key skills. For example, setting the teaching objectives, improving teaching contents and teaching mode, innovating teaching methods, establishing diversified evaluation system and so on.
